30 Day Shred
I started the Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred 2 days ago to supplement my exercise regimen. I normally do 35 minutes of the elliptical 3 days a week, floor exercises (abs and legs) once a week, and natural activity (mowing, gardening, chasing after my son) the rest of the week. Sometimes the family goes on bike rides or to the town pool too.
The elliptical is helping me shed weight, but I am not getting toned. I still have 30/35 lbs to lose to reach my goal weight, but I thought it was time to add in toning exercises. A few of my friends have done the 30 day shred, so I decided to try it. Now, in order to get through the next 28 days, I decided I needed a blog to keep me honest because as of right now, I don't think I can do it.
I am going to create two more posts - backdated to Monday and Tuesday - with my thoughts about exercising those 2 days. Then from here on in, I am going to post every night after doing the Shred once Patrick goes to bed.

Day 2
I was sore when I woke this morning, but mostly felt good, like I accomplished something. I took the stairs at work 3 times today - 3 1/2 flights. Just because I am doing the Shred does not mean I am going to stop my other activities. When I got home from work, I was excited to do the Shred again. I had Noel and Patrick watch me to cheer me on, but also to look at my form when I was doing some of the "strength" moves. I was pretty sure I was doing the "rows" wrong... and I was. It was good to have them there though. Noel knows how hard I am working and it was nice to hear him say that I could do it. Especially when I got to the end and thought I wasn't going to be able to finish. I would have quit if it weren't for him. But, when i was done I was sooo sore. I hobbled up the stairs, sat down for dinner and could not get back up. I forced myself to and go outside with Patrick. We just went across the street for a bit, but I was up walking and moving.

Day 1 of the 30 Day Shred - August 17th
Got the 30 day Shred in the mail today. I was so excited to start it. Noel and Patrick went to the pool and I ran downstairs as soon as they were gone. I started with level 1 with 5 lbs weights. The first circuit was easy! The second circuit was fine too. The 3rd circuit got a little harder - especially with the 5 lbs weights. I had to drop them and continue the strength training without them. But i finished the session going strong. Boy - that was easier than I thought it was going to be.... Until I walked up the stairs. hmm, my thighs hurt and were quivering.
